Although this isn’t strictly part of organic search engine optimization, online advertising is a large part of many online budgets to drive traffic to their website and when I saw that advertising had become integrated into Facebook, I thought it would be interesting to experiment with it.
Facebook uses the Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising model. This isn’t a new concept and all the search engines offer the facility to advertise on their search result pages and only take payment when a person clicks on your advertisement (hence the name). This is also the largest money spinner for all of these search engines.
For those of you that may not have heard of Facebook, it is the largest social networking site in the World with more than 350 million active users and over half of them go to the site every single day. What does this mean when it comes to advertising with them? It means you have an enormous global audience that you can market to.
