What is a "Hosting Safety"?
Millions of sites have been affected by hackers, viruses or malicious software. Once infected, these pages are used to spam email address or take part in distributed denial-of-service attacks as part of ‘botnet’ networks. If you host your site on the same server as one of these infected pages, your search engine ranking can be seriously affected – and users can even be warned by their anti-virus software not to visit you. For an online business, either of these eventualities would be disastrous.
SeoSUE.com alerts you to infected hosts by scanning the web with a variety of methods – including iframe code analytics and spam website databases (such as spamhaus.org). This lets us work out a ‘safety rating’ for each host we come across. If this safety rating is considered high enough (roughly more than 99.98%), then we’ll let you know that it’s probably okay to keep your site where it is. If we find it to be lower, however, you’ll be advised to move your pages over to a less damaged host.
